Whenever asked the complicated question of who my favorite Emcee is, I choose Los Angeles Artist and Hip hop Legend Medusa as my answer. If you know her, you know why – if you are unfamiliar with her body of work, get to know her and I have a feeling you will understand that this 30 year veteran of Hip hop deserves to be acknowledged in the same ranks as all the familiar and frequently named Hip hop Greats. She is a woman of unusual charm, charisma and beauty that defies her years and it was a pleasure and an honor to have the opportunity to work with her and to share this very special issue dedicated to Her Highness MEDUSA.

What does it mean to be a Gangsta Goddess?

 

Most women in every corp. ENVIRONMENT have to be firm, gangsta thr position, yet remain a woman with integrity and class, these elements embraced with the power of femininity is a GANGSTAGODDESS.

A PERSON WHO HAS CHANGED THE FACE ,PACE ,TREND AND OR TONE OF HIP HOP

 

 

What do you think makes a strong Emcee?

 

LYRICS, KADENCE, THE ABILITY TO BE CLEVER, ORIGINALITY, RHYME PATTERNS, MASTER OF EVERY CEREMONY, MIC CONTROL , FLAVOR ( SWAG IF U WILL), FREE MIND, THE ABILITY TO ROCK ANY BEAT, OPEN HEART AND FIRE IN THEIR SPIRIT!!!!

 

 

Who are some artists you really admire?

 

OMG Aretha Franklin, Isley Brothers, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire, Emotions, BRASS CONSTRUCTION, Patrice Russian, Prince, George Clinton, Carole King, Febie Snow, DJ Quick, LL Cool j, Queen La, Ice Cube, Bill withers, Anita Baker, Tina Marie, Rick James, Sly stone, Jimmy Hendrix and so many more but I WILL STOP HERE FOR NOW…

 

 

Can you tell us about a trip you took to Cuba to the Black August Festival?

 

Went with Ben Caldwel and 4 other og goodlife project blowed artist.. are intent was to build a relationship with the hip hop heads thr… it was amazing to see how much they loved american commercial and underground hip hop. I met a Tupac look alike dwn to the tats …lol..was thr to see deities come to life in the streets…was in a cab when Castro rolled thru the streets one night ..all other drivers had to be still turn off thr lights & let the entourage roll thru… crazy! great music and fun rollin with Tasha Hunter, Riddlor, Acey Alone…..plus had the pleasure of siting with Nahonda of the panther movement a woman that’s been in political exile for 20yrs….sat for hrs listening to true story about the panther party…

 

 

What do you think about the near exclusion of women from the industry of Hip hop?

 

They give us a slot …1 for a woman every year.. hip hop deserves a balance like any family….If I’m the true COOK in the house let me serve you this well seasoned pot of GUMBO…if I’m the cleaner then let me CLEAN up what some of y’all fucked up…and if i nurture the children LET ME HOLLA ATUM THN!! I’m just sayin…

Tours with Brother jay, Public Enemy and Snoop Dog…events, bringing back nappy at the roots…Joint with Aloe black and A JOINT with Evidence IS IN THE WORKS, putting new talent on and putting my latest projects out..
